The Gave d'Aspe rises at 2,200 meters in the “Sierra de Aisa”, at the Spanish border. It flows for 40 km along the valley to join Oloron Sainte Marie, and the confluence with the Gave d'Ossau. At the end of the valley, the tributaries of Lourdios, Lourteau Barescou reinforce its flow.
The Gave d'Aspe and its tributaries (Gave Lescun, Gave Lhers ...) are ideal for fishing ‘au toc’ and also for fly fishing for brown trout ‘fario’. Salmon also swim upstream in The Gave d’Aspe.
The Aspe Valley is lucky to have the organisation APPMA, which can arrange the purchase of passes for rivers in Spain. This way you can really vary your choice of fishing spots during your stay.
